ABOUT THE SINGLE

Old News lives in the moment when heartbreak stops feeling like an emergency.

Old News finds Jazmyne Fountain on the other side of a relationship that once held far more power over her than it does now. Rather than centering the person who caused the hurt, the song focuses on the clarity that comes afterward: realizing you can choose yourself, walk away, and eventually look back at something that once consumed you as exactly what it has become—old news.

That realization extends beyond the relationship at the center of the song. It became the foundation for a larger story about choice, independence, and the freedom women have fought generations to possess.

“There’s something powerful about realizing that you have the ability to leave.”

“I wanted this to feel like a little homage to the women who came before us who may not have had that same freedom—to choose themselves, start over, or simply decide, ‘I don’t want this anymore.’ In this story, she gets to leave.”
— Jazmyne Fountain

THE VISUAL

A familiar woman. A different ending.

The visual world of Old News borrows from the image of the polished mid-century woman—the immaculate hair, the car, the carefully composed exterior—and places her inside a story she gets to control.

Shot in Acton, California, the accompanying visual pairs vintage Americana with darker, noir-inspired imagery. A red suitcase, a classic Lincoln, newspaper headlines and an open road become pieces of a story about a woman who has decided that whatever came before her no longer gets to determine what comes next.

About Jazmyne

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Jazmyne Fountain has built a career around the versatility of her voice. Moving between the warmth of R&B and the scale of pop, Fountain pairs rich lows, intimate phrasing, soaring belts and whistle tones with emotionally detailed songwriting and cinematic storytelling.

Raised on the vocal traditions of Whitney Houston, Beyoncé and Yolanda Adams, Fountain’s musical foundation was shaped by both precision and power. Her experiences studying and creating music in Chicago and Germany later expanded that foundation, introducing new approaches to live instrumentation, collaboration and arrangement. After relocating to Los Angeles, she began carving out a career across the entertainment industry while developing the recording artist she had long envisioned becoming.

For the past three seasons, Fountain has performed as a vocalist on Dancing with the Stars, alongside performances including the national anthem for the LA Clippers. But her creative ambitions extend beyond the microphone. She approaches music as an opportunity to build an entire world, using styling, imagery, character and narrative to deepen the emotion of a song.

Her 2026 single “Old News” marks an intentional reintroduction. Rooted in the R&B and pop sensibilities of the 2000s, the record brings together the pieces Fountain has spent years developing: voice, songwriting, visual storytelling and creative direction. Rather than announcing a sudden new era, Old News captures an artist stepping fully into something that has been taking shape all along.
